Last week, I downloaded from microsoft ms vista and got an activation key. After I burned the download to a DVD, I started the installation from the DVD.
But when I get to the point where I'm asked to enter the installation key, I can only numbers but no letters. Hence I can not enter the activation key, which contains both numbers and letters.
This happens for both 32 versions of vista, the English and the German one.
Thanks in advance, Gerhard

How does one "copy and paste" anything without an OS installed?

It worked. I was doing a clean install of vista. But it was a dual boot on a second hard drive, with XP pro on the first hard drive. Before starting the vista install, I copied the key. It worked, I could paste it during the vista installation. Thanks Dave, Gerhard

I must have missed the part where he said he was doing a clean install rather than an upgrade or install onto a second partition

No problem
Last week, I downloaded from microsoft's get ready site the ms vista iso file and got an activation key. After I burned the downloaded iso file to a DVD, I started the installation from the DVD.
But when I get to the point, where I'm asked to enter the installation key, I can only enter numbers but no letters. Since I can not enter the activation key, which contains both numbers and letters, I can not continue the installation.
This happens for both 32 versions of vista, the English and the German one.
